Hi there. I’m honored you’re here. I’ve practiced as a board certified family physician for 21 years. During that time, I have seen first hand how detrimental the effects of stress can be in our lives. My own stressors played a big part in my journey. In my early 30’s, I found myself as a mom to young kids working a stressful, demanding job. I felt lethargic, anxious and was suffering from debilitating migraines and insomnia. After secretly struggling with health issues for years, I was still debating if my own mental and emotional health was a priority. And through it all, I looked as if I “had it all”.

Does this sound like you?

At my lowest point, I found myself in the ER with a myriad of mind/body ailments…abdominal pain, headaches, fatigue. That’s when I decided that enough was enough. I started to take action and started to take my life back. I went back to my beloved meditation practice I had picked up in college. I decided that self care was a priority - I had to let my mom guilt go. I took the time to learn how to incorporate a whole foods, plant based diet into my life.

All of these seemingly small changes began to have a ripple effect. Not just on me but also on my family. My kids, my husband, my coworkers and yes, my patients were also benefiting in so many ways from my feeling vibrant and healthy. I knew then that I should be bringing these powerful practices to more and more people.

My coaching and meditation practices are highly evolved. I have seen the transformation my clients have on a regular basis. My coaching and meditation program is outside the mainstream. If you’re here reading this, its highly likely that you have exhausted what the mainstream has offered you.

If you find yourself struggling… if you look successful on the outside but you struggle on the inside - just like I used to - then join me. Together, we will curate the purposeful life you deserve.

My Story

I was born in Bengaluru, India and was lucky enough to have spent the first 11 years with my large, boisterous extended family. My parents, brother and I immigrated to the United States when I was almost 12 years old. We found ourselves in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains in the rural coal mining town of Richlands, Virginia. I scrambled to adapt to adolescence and the completely new culture I found myself in. Ultimately, I believe this gave me so many skills in life. Especially understanding the common ground all humans have with each other.

I graduated from Richlands High School and went to college at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Having spent several hundred hours volunteering in various healthcare settings, I knew I wanted to go into medicine and help as many people as I could. While I was there, I picked up the habit of meditation and knew the mind/body connection was real and powerful.

I went on to medical school - also at the University of Virginia, where I met my husband. I loved almost every part of medicine but felt most passionately about wellness and prevention. I decided that being a family physician was my best chance at making our world a healthier place. After graduation, I came to Jacksonville for residency at St. Vincent’s hospital.

I worked at Baptist Primary Care in Jacksonville and truly enjoyed my 16 years of intense connection with my patients and their families. I felt privileged to have earned my patients' trust and loved being able to make a positive impact on their lives. However, I learned early on that insurance companies had more influence on my patients care and treatment plans than I did.

As my practice grew, so did my concerns about the traditional healthcare system. There were so many barriers between doctor and patient. And we physicians had almost no training in what really mattered - lifestyle and mind/body wellbeing. So I took matters into my own hands. I not only studied and practiced meditation, yoga and Ayurveda lifestyle, but I also became a certified teacher via the prestigious Chopra Global program.

Changes began happening.

My ability to help my patients expanded exponentially. And the constrictions of the traditional medical setting became tighter and tighter. I struggled to give my patients the time they needed at every visit. The constant pulling I had to serve my patients and the ever present tug of the insurance-driven high volume system I worked in became too much.

I was no longer willing to work inside a broken system.

I made the courageous decision to create my own highly evolved practice. That is when Optimal Wellness, Inc was born! Here, I help high achieving professionals who are feeling overworked to let go of guilt and tap into inner peace and power so they can live more energetic and purposeful lives.

I have had the honor of working with hundreds of busy women since Optimal Wellness was born in early 2020. These women tell me they can finally relax again. They practice self-compassion, and they are more resilient to stress. They are pouring from an overflowing cup, helping those around them. . They are living life on their terms.
